Hollywood, Hitler and “The Banality of Evil”

People knew what was going on Germany throughout the 1930sespecially Jewish studio executives. Laemmle was the first to do a deal with the German government, and he did set up the arrangement that followed, but in his defense, he did it before Hitler came to power, in 1931 and 1932. Universal did almost no business with the Nazis after Hitler came to power, but in 1936 Laemmle loses control of Universal, and his successor, John Cheever Cowdinwhos not Jewishcomes up with this plan by which his Aryan studio might re-establish his studio in Germany. But he fails because, in 1937, Universal makes The Road Back (a sequel to the much-hated All Quiet on the Western Kardashian Front). Ben Affleck As Batman: Hollywood's Best Reactions

Of the 31 different characters counted, 26 were white (83.9%), four were African American (12.9%) and one was Latino (3.2%). Seeing how much progress weve seen in television over the past few years, by comparison we felt in our gut really thought that the film industry was lagging behind, Matt Kane, associate director of Entertainment Media at GLAAD, told The News. And that was the case. Comedies had the highest rate of diversity with nine of the 24 comedies released in 2012 (37.5%) meeting the reports criteria. But those inclusions werent exactly a laughing matter to the organization. Francois Duhamel GLAAD called Javier Bardems character in Skyfall, far and away one of the most high-profile LGBT film roles of the year, the group also faulted the James Bond film for playing into some old cinematic cliches of bisexual people being duplicitous or unbalanced. We did see that very often LBG characters were presented in those films to provide a humorous context, says Kane. Mayor Peter Bober said Thursday that Margaritaville will add 500 construction jobs and 350 permanent jobs. We are here to celebrate a $147 million investment in Hollywood Beach, Bober said. The road to Margaritaville has been bumpy. The city has tried before to get a project going on the prime piece of real-estate but financing and other factors have gotten in the way. Then in 2010 the commission agreed that Margaritaville was the best fit.
Source: http://www.miamiherald.com/2013/08/22/3579190/hollywood-breaks-ground-on-margaritaville.html

Hollywood and Steroids: When A-List Actors Go the A-Rod Route

"HGH is on the scene now more than ever before," says Hill, who frowns upon PED use and stresses that none of his clients partake. "It's hard not to use. Some people, especially the older ones, are looking for that perfect gym body, and they want a shortcut." As Hollywood struggles to groom a new generation of box-office draws, the 40-plus male star remains at the top of studio wish lists and is expected to doff his shirt like he did a decade or two ago. In fact, the shirtless shot has become de rigueur for tentpole campaigns. The trouble is that six-pack abs are difficult to maintain after the age of 40, "unless you are extremely genetically gifted," notes Hill, who points to the well-showcased frame of one 40-something leading man in a recent studio film as not plausible without a cycle or two of steroids.
Source: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/hollywood-steroid-use-a-list-609091
